South Devon Railway 1960s weekend 24th May
Didcot Railway Centre - Once in a Blue Moon 5th April
In a preservation first, DIdcot Railway Centre brought together three locomotives carrying British Railway's short lived express passenger blue livery. The Great Western Society's own 'King' No:6023 'King Edward II' was joined by new build 'A1' No:60163 'Tornado' and 'A4' No:60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley. As well as forming a magnificent line up, the three giants of steam performed on the demonstration line while sole operating GWR diesel railcar No:22 pottered along the branch line.
Didcot were on to a winner - the event was busy, but not overcrowded and the atmosphere was superb. Thanks to all those who worked behind the scenes to make this dream line up happen and to the volunteers on the day, who were great.
