Truckfest South West & Wales 06/07/13
For the first time Truckfest South West and Wales was held at the Three Counties Showground in Malvern after 26 years at the Bath and West showground. With this change of venue, a bit closer to home, I paid my first visit to the show. And
I'm sure it won't be my last! The event exceeded my expectations considerably, being much more than just a line up of shiny trucks great as they were to see, with a variety activities going on in the main ring all day. These included monster trucks crushing cars, stunt bike riding, vehicle recovery demonstrations and a tough competition between the shows celebrity guests - Lisa Kelly and Alex Debogorski from 'Ice Road Truckers' and a team from Eddie Stobart. |
Wythall Transport Museum operating day and celebration of 65 years of the Morris 'J' type van 15/06/13
Over the weekend of the 15/16th June The Transport Museum, Wythall held a running day to coincide with a line up of Morris J vans on the museum site organised by the J van register to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the introduction of these delightful vehicles. Alongside the classic bus rides and the J van line up there was the opportunity to see the museum's great collection of buses and battery electric vehicles.

Time travel on the GWSR 11/06/13
The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway is back after its embankment troubles. Back, and better than ever before! The new timetable is a masterpiece; I was able to take a marvellous trip through time, starting with No:7903 'Foremarke Hall' (1949) at Cheltenham, changing to the diesel railcar (1958) at Winchcombe and over the extension to
Laverton and then taking Class 47 47376 'Freightliner 1995' back to Cheltenham. It was this amazing variety of experiences, superb views and friendly volunteers which made our visit to the GWSR such a fantastic day out. Read more....... |

EVLR gala 8/06/13
The Evesham Vale Light Railway held its annual gala over the second weekend in June. It is one of those small heritage lines
that don't appear on most railway enthusiasts' radar. This delightful 15 inch gauge line deserves to though; it may not match the length of other lines of its gauge but with four locomotives, departures every 20 minutes and some double headed workings there was an impressive variety of things to see.
